30 days of thankfulness.. off to a late start

30 days of thankfulness - a fun way to focus on our blessings - not just this month but every month.... Day 1 - Since November is also National Adoption Month - I am thankful for all the people who helped get our kids home. The process was long and hard and drove me to my knees often. I am thankful that there were people who loved on them when we couldn't, sent pictures and updates, provided a listening ear, and offered words of advice and encouragement. So thankful for those who have a heart for the orphan. Day 2 - thankful for the fun evening spent with my family. We have been so busy lately that it was nice to just be home, play games, and enjoy the chaos that is my family.

Fall Festival

We have had a busy few weeks - school, tae kwon do, Ben is taking piano and in the church Christmas play, Micah started speech therapy, and Makayla is taking dance- WHEW! And(bow)hunting season has started so my husband has become the mighty hunter. :-) Yesterday we had a fall festival at our church. Ben and Sam were helping with a game booth the youth had set up and Jeff and I were helping our Sunday school class with the food/cleanup. There were lots of games, candy, and fun! Makayla discovered pretty quickly that she has a good throwing arm. They had a dunk tank set up and Makayla did it four different times and each time she nailed it with her first throw. The guy in the tank was ready for Makayla to go home! :-) Softball may be in her future... Just a side note - on the way home from AWANA this evening Micah was talking about how heaven is in the sky and on Earth. We were trying to figure out the whole on Earth thing and he finally said - "like the song says - heaven is a place on Earth". Gotta love the 80's CD he has been listening to! :-)

wow....it's been a while

So I really am bad about blogging! I got on here this evening and was looking at the (few) posts that I have and was remembering those moments and so I am going to try this again, if anything it will be like a journal for me. Micah lost his first tooth today. I was a bit upset because he JUST turned 5 less than a month ago and I am in denial that my baby is growing up. :-( He was really worried about it last night. Nathan kept telling him how much it was going to hurt so that freaked Micah out a bit. About 5 this morning he came running into our room saying "my tooth fell out! my tooth fell out!" Well - I wasn't going to get out of bed. I told him "that is nice honey. Are you bleeding?" When he informed me there was no blood - I had him go back to bed. I never opened my eyes. A little while later he came back in and said "nevermind, my tooth didn't fall out, I just didn't feel it." :-) It was really loose this morning so I talked him into letting me pull it. It came out easy (which is good because I hate pulling teeth!!) He has been carrying around that little tooth like a prize all day. My baby is growing up - whether or not I like it!

The movers were at our house yesterday and they got us all packed up. Monday they will load it on the truck. Not much longer and we will be leaving Dover and starting our new adventure.

Seriously.....

I am a lousy blogger. I really want to be a good blogger. I love reading other people's blogs and I have come up with some fabulous posts - in my head. I am going to TRY to do better. We will see how that goes!
On another note - Jeff turned in his final paper for his masters degree today. I am so happy! I told him that he better not even think about getting his PhD - at least until the kids are in college!

4 out of 5....

That is how many sick kids I have. Micah is the healthiest one and that is only because he is getting over the flu and is on an antibiotic for an ear infection! Did I mention that Jeff is at SOS??!!
Sometimes it stinks being a miltiary wife.

Mount Vernon

The kids and I took and field trip to Mount Vernon with our home school co-op. Me + 5 kids = total craziness! Mt. Vernon is beautiful and I think the older kids learned a few things but at the end of the day we were all exhausted. Next time daddy goes with us!
